IDEATION AND SELECT

While working at National Geographic, I was initially brought on for motion design projects, but I was soon invited to contribute to key art ideation for two major campaigns: Sharkfest and Cleopatra's Final Secret.

For Sharkfest, the Disney and National Geographic marketing teams held a pitch session where everyone presented potential creative directions. I pitched two concepts:

1.) Party Crasher – An imagined aftermath of a shark crashing a Sharkfest party boat. I built the entire scene using stock assets, compositing multiple elements to create a humorous, chaotic atmosphere.

2.) Tune in to Humanfest – A role-reversal concept where, just as humans relax to watch sharks, sharks curl up to watch humans. I used AI-generated imagery to explore the concept, compositing my favorite elements from multiple variations and enhancing the scene with additional details executed with digital painting techniques and stock. Collaborating with a colleague, we added underwater visual elements to heighten the playful absurdity and transformed the lighting from daytime to nighttime for a more cinematic effect

For Cleopatra's Final Secret, my team received documentary stills to use in creating promotional art. With a primary audience of women and a theme centered on exploration, I developed several design directions. One concept emphasized curiosity through bold composition, while another highlighted the documentary’s main female protagonist. The latter was ultimately selected for distribution.

Through these projects, I was able to merge creative ideation with hands-on compositing and visual storytelling, expanding my role beyond motion design into campaign-level concept development.

Animated Soundtrack Art

For this project series at National Geographic, I received soundtrack cover art Photoshop files from the designer and rebuilt them so they could be brought into After Effects for animation. Using tools like Liquify, masking, and Page Turn, I created looping animations that added movement to the original stills. I formatted each piece for 1x1, 16x9, and 9x16 distribution, making sure to render at the exact specs required for iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube. The final animations promoted Nat Geo titles like Underdogs, Secrets of the Penguins, Tsunami: Race Against Time, and Sugarcane.

Grandma Vs.

MAIN TITLE + MOTION GRAPHICS PACKAGE, LOGO IDEATION, AND THUMBNAIL DESIGN

For the National Geographic YouTube series Grandma VS (a spin-off of Antoni Porowski’s No Taste Like Home) I played a key role in shaping the show’s visual identity. Working in collaboration with a teammate, I co-designed the series logo to capture the shows up beat energy while riffing off the visual language of No Taste Like Home. I created the episode thumbnail template to be unified within the YouTube Channel but scroll-stopping within viewer's algorithms. I also animated the show’s logo and designed/animated the lower thirds and title card template, providing the production team’s motion designer with reusable assets for seamless integration into the episodes. The result was a cohesive, adaptable brand package tailored for YouTube’s fast-paced, visually driven environment.

Big Little Italy

LOGO DESIGN, GRAPHICS PACKAGE

I developed key elements of the branding toolkit for National Geographic’s YouTube series Big Little Italy. My work included designing and animating the show logo, as well as creating and building the lower thirds as customizable After Effects templates for the production team’s motion designer. The series follows Jo Franco as she explores “Little Italys” in cities around the world, and it aired shortly after Tucci in Italy as a spin-off YouTube series that also helped promote the original show.

LOGO ANIMATION GRAPHICS PACKAGE

NBCUniversal

GRAPHICS PACKAGE IMPLEMNTATION

The National Geographic 33 honors individuals who have made significant positive impacts on the world. The 33 collection showcases global visionaries, creators, and adventurers united by urgent action and imaginative solutions.

Collaborating closely with the Senior Motion Designer and Creative Director, I helped develop the visual direction for the motion toolkit. After exploring several concepts, we settled on a glowing metallic wireframe aesthetic. I animated a version of the 33 logo (originally provided by the magazine) creating a dynamic transition from a glowing metallic wireframe form to a polished solid gold finish. I then I incorporated a subtle particle effect that add dimensionality to the animation.

Alongside the Senior Motion Designer, I also built an animated wireframe version of the National Geographic logo that transitions seamlessly into the iconic solid gold look. Additionally, I designed and implemented fully editable text layer title cards that follow the same wireframe-to-gold theme, allowing flexible customization for various content needs.

I was responsible for updating various toolkits and resizing key art graphics to ensure they met the specific requirements for both USA Network and SYFY. This involved receiving footage for ads from the editor, adding title cards and end cards from the brand toolkit, and doing some minor video repositioning and CC to fit the video cutout effect designed into the toolkit. In addition, I also carefully adjusting film key art assets to fit different formats and screen sizes while maintaining the integrity and quality of the original designs. By collaborating closely with my team, I ensured that all graphics were optimized for their intended platforms, contributing to a seamless and polished final presentation that aligned with each network’s branding guidelines and visual identity.

Dim Mak Records

LYRIC VISUALIZERS, MOTION GRAPHICSAND VIDEO EDITING

At Dim Mak Records, I developed dynamic social media video edits for the Throwback Thursday series, showcasing Dim Mak Neighborhood Events and episodes of The Aoki Files. On the left, you’ll see my Throwback Thursday edit for Dim Mak Neighborhood Chicago, capturing the energy and vibe of the event through seamless video storytelling. Additionally, I created custom lyric visualizers for emerging artists to enhance their digital presence. On the right, I crafted a lyric visualizer for DLMT’s track “Don’t Wanna Wait.” For this project, I synced the lyrics to the music, designed and lit a 3D scene, and animated a vinyl record player that perfectly matched the single’s cover art, bringing the song to life visually.
